LSU Softball Goes Teal to Strikeout Ovarian Cancer
What no purple & gold? As much as we love the traditional colors of LSU it truly is fun to start from scratch with a new color palette. Deciding colors in our office is usually pretty simple. Purple, gold, white, black and any shade of grey in between as supportive colors. But when working with a new color we had to step back and take some time to pick the correct color teal. It was a back and forth process using Pantone swatch books and a little bit of trial and error. Before the season began and a few short months after Beth Torina was named the head softball coach we met to discuss the 2012 softball campaign. One of the great surprises was a new branded game, "the teal game". Teal is used to represent ovarian cancer awareness like pink is used to represent breast cancer. For Coach Torina this was something special and had previously done while coaching at Florida International.
Working with softball marketing director Lauren Taylor and our marketing director Mathew Shanklin we established the logo above with different color solutions, a shirt and most recently a Save the Date card designed by Courtney Wilburn for the April 21 game vs. Ole Miss in Tiger Park.
